Round 2 Game 4

Photobucket
The old saying goes "I'd rather be lucky then good." The Ducks were both on Tuesday night in their 2-1 victory over the Wings. Teemu Selanne opened the scoring after taking a breakout pass from Ryan Carter and slipping thru the Wings defense before going to the backhand on Chris Osgood. The Ducks would double their lead in the second on the powerplay as Scott Niedermayer scored his first of the playoffs. It wasn't all fun for the Ducks as James Wisniewski was hit high in the chest by a Pavel Datsyuk shot and was eventually taken of the ice on a stretcher. Checked out at the hospital and it was revealed he has sustained a bruised lung and is questionable for game 4. The Wings would get on the board in the 2nd. But the Ducks would hang on for a 2-1 victory that wasn't without its controversy late in the third Marian Hossa appeared to tie the game but referee Brad Watson had lost sight of the puck and blew the play dead. “I didn’t know where the puck went, I saw it on the replay after, it was definitely an early call. We were lucky there,” said Hiller. “You’re always going to get good calls or bad calls against you. But I always say to be lucky you have to fight for it and tonight we fought for 60 minutes. That’s why we deserve to be lucky at the end.”

The Ducks can put the Wings on the brink with another strong game like this, Jonas Hiller was outstanding again and Ryan Getzlaf's point streak is now at 7 games. It also appears Teemu Selanne is a man on a mission as he was flying in game 3.
